Reduce food waste

Waste less food. See what you save.

Most of the food we throw away was bought with good intentions and then forgotten. Pantry Bliss shows what needs using first, turns it into dinner and adds up what you rescued each month.

From “use it or lose it” to “used it”

  • Use it up, every day

Today shows what’s expiring in your pantry, and a morning reminder tells you what needs using.

  • Recipes for what’s about to go off

Tap “Cook with these” for five ideas built around those ingredients, or ask Siri to “cook with what’s expiring”.

  • See what you saved

Each month Pantry Bliss adds up the food you used in time and the meals you cooked from your pantry, valued at the prices on your receipts.

  • A monthly recap to share

Get your savings on the 1st of each month, and share the card with friends who are trying to waste less too.

  • Shop for what you’ll use

Plan the week, build the list from your plan and check the shared pantry before you buy more.

  • Everyone in on it

The whole household shares one pantry, so food doesn’t get forgotten at the back of the fridge.

How it works

Three steps, then it runs itself

  1. 1

    Scan what you buy

Snap your receipt and your pantry fills itself, with the price paid and a suggested expiry date for each item.

  2. 2

    Use the oldest first

Cook from the “Use it up” ideas, and mark what you used or threw away with a swipe.

  3. 3

    Watch the savings add up

Today shows what you rescued this month, and the recap lands on the 1st.

Questions, answered

How does Pantry Bliss work out what I’ve saved?
When you use an item within 3 days of its use-by date, or after it, Pantry Bliss counts it as rescued. It values each item at the price on your scanned receipt, or a typical price for that kind of food, and also counts the meals you cooked from your pantry. Savings are always shown as an estimate.
How much food does the average household waste?
It depends on where you live. WRAP puts it at about £1,000 a year for an average UK household of four, and ReFED estimates US consumers spend 13% of their food-at-home budget on food that goes uneaten. Our blog has a round-up of the latest figures by country.
Is the savings tracker free?
Yes. Expiry tracking, “Use it up” suggestions, the savings card and the monthly recap are on every plan.
Which currencies does it support?
Savings are shown in your phone’s currency. Typical prices are built in for US, Canadian, Australian and New Zealand dollars, pounds and euros, and receipt prices are used whatever your currency.
